PADI Open Water Diver courses at Sukelluskoulu Rausku in Espoo are designed for beginners who want to learn scuba diving in a calm, safe, and supportive environment. The course includes PADI eLearning theory studies, pool training sessions in Espoo and the metropolitan area, as well as open water dives at local dive sites.

After completing the course, you will receive an internationally recognized PADI Open Water Diver certification card and gain the skills needed to dive with a buddy to depths of up to 18 meters anywhere in the world.

Course overview:
The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most recognized scuba certification. After completion, you are certified to dive independently with a buddy to 18 meters anywhere in the world.
You will build a strong and safe foundation in dive theory, equipment use, buoyancy control and emergency procedures. Training is conducted in a calm, structured way in small groups or privately. We focus on confidence and real competence — never rushing the process. This certification opens the door to dive travel, advanced courses and year-round diving.

Completing the course in Finland gives you the opportunity to start a new hobby, or if your goal is to dive while traveling, you can immediately join excursions organized by local dive centers without having to spend your vacation learning the basic diving skills and theory.

The course in Espoo begins with theory studies in the PADI eLearning environment. After that, we practice the basic diving skills first in the pool, and then continue practicing them in open water while you also gain your first real diving experiences in natural waters.

• 4 open water dives in the open water diving spots providing good diving conditions in metropolitan area and surrounding areas, e.g. in Kirkkonummi

Outcome:
You become a certified diver up to 18 meters.

Requirements:
• Minimum age 10
• Swimming ability
• Medical questionnaire: If you have any of the risk factors listed in the medical screening form (i.e., if you answer “yes” to items that require a medical examination before diving), this often does not mean that you cannot take up diving. However, you will need a physician’s certificate to dive. Medical examinations are provided, for example, by private medical clinics. The health questionnaire is completed digitally in PADI’s system after enrolling in the course, but we recommend reviewing it in advance. How much does a diving course cost in Espoo?
The regular price of our basic course is €590.

Do I need previous experience?
You do not need any previous experience. We begin the course exercises together with the instructor after assembling and putting on the equipment, starting with the first underwater breathing exercises.

Can I start without my own equipment?
You will receive all the equipment needed for the course from our dive school. You only need a swimsuit. We can also give you advice on purchasing equipment if you later decide to get your own gear.

Where are the dives conducted?
Pool dives are conducted in the training pools we use in Espoo and the metropolitan area. Open water dives take place in the clear natural waters nearby, including in Kirkkonummi.

How long does the course last?
The course schedule is arranged individually according to each student’s timetable. The theory section is studied at your own pace. Pool and open water dives are typically completed within 1–3 weeks. At the shortest, the pool and open water dives can be completed in 3 days.
